The 7mm interface pad is perfect for level sanding and shaker-style doors. Its dense, firm design helps you achieve a smooth, flat finish when paired with a flat sheet abrasive like SurfPrep’s Red Riptide paper. It also raises your sander just enough to reach into corners without bumping into edges — ideal for shaker profiles or detailed surfaces.
Learn how to use SurfPrep’s Soft Gray Interface Pad for effective contour sanding—especially when paired with flat sheet abrasives like our White Lightning Ceramic Paper. This pad adds flexibility to your sander, helping you tackle detailed curves and profiles with ease. Ideal for anyone doing cabinet work, refinishing, or fine woodworking.
Learn how to use the 15mm dense interface pad to raise your sander and reach tight corners without bumping edges. This thicker pad works best with a J-hook backup pad and your choice of abrasive — like our Red Riptide paper — to give you smooth, controlled sanding on window frames, trim, and detailed surfaces. Perfect for getting right up to edges without losing contact or control.
This video covers SurfPrep’s medium density interface pad—perfect for use with the 3x4 sander and sheet abrasives like our Red Riptide paper. It adds just the right amount of cushion to give you a smooth, consistent sanding experience on flat surfaces, and it even handles mild contours with ease.
If your SurfPrep POV8 or PIV12 vacuum is making a knocking noise, don’t worry—it’s not broken!
That sound is the self-cleaning HEPA filter doing its job. It knocks dust off the filter and into the collection bag to keep your vacuum running efficiently and maintain maximum suction power.

Want flawless results when sanding wood or coatings? In this video, Denny Jahnz from SurfPrep dives into one of his favorite finishing tools: inspection light bars. These purpose-built lights expose every imperfection in your substrate, helping you perfect your finish before it moves to the next stage.
Setup instructions for SurfPrep LED Inspection Light
SurfPrep designed a low-profile, lightweight, low-angle LED bar. This type of lighting helps sanding machine operators and sanding table personnel to see the defects before they end up in the finishing room. Low angle lighting silhouettes the scratch patterns and any surface imperfections making them extremely easy to see and correct. Mike Peake with Roy's Wood Products in Lugoff, SC has been using them for the past year and a half. Check out what he has to say about how these lights have helped in their shop.
Baxley Woodworks uses SurfPrep LED Inspection Lights in all of their sanding stations. Here they are using a 24" light while prepping wood pieces.
